Microneedling is a noninvasive method of skin rejuvenation that uses your body’s natural healing process to improve the appearance of the skin. It’s true that the majority of patients seek microneedling with radiofrequency treatment for its anti-aging benefits like smooth, taut skin and a less wrinkled appearance, but it also corrects scarring due to acne. The collagen that the procedure creates helps fade your scarring. The result is the restoration of your flawless skin! Click now to book your consultation.

Microneedling with Radiofrequency

What is microneedilng

Traditional microneedling uses a special device that creates micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating the body’s own healing response. Collagen and elastin production are initiated, which effectively tightens skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines and acne scarring.

In addition to the benefits seen with the micro-injury provided by the microneedles, RF microneedling also delivers RF energy deep into the dermis further enhancing skin tightening and scar reduction. The RF energy heats the underlying layers, causing constriction and tightening of the skin, as well as the stimulation of collagen and elastin production. Because the RF energy is delivered so deeply, it can produce faster, more dramatic results.

Microneedling can be used to address many common concerns, including:

  • Sun damage
  • Acne scars
  • Fine lines
  • Enlarged pores
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Sagging skin

Microneedling procedures are most commonly performed on the face but are also effective at rejuvenating skin all over the body including stretch marks, loose skin under the chin and other areas such at underarms. The increase in collagen plumps up your skin and reduces the appearance of scars and fine lines. Microneedling also makes it easier for your skin to absorb topical products.

What should I expect during the procedure?

To ensure the safety and effectiveness of your treatment, all microneedling procedures at Image Revolution Health and Medical Spa are performed by an experienced physician. To begin the procedure, your doctor applies a topical numbing cream to control any discomfort. Then the microneedling device, outfitted with a cluster of needles, delivers several dozen pricks about three millimeters deep into your skin. The device also shoots radiofrequency energy into your skin to treat scars and wrinkles and yield a fuller, more youthful look.

Together, the needles and heat energy stimulate your skin into creating new collagen and hyaluronic acid, which help repair tissue and hydrate your skin, respectively. One session is about 20 minutes, and a minimum of three sessions is recommended for optimal results. It’s common, as well, to undergo touch-up procedures to maintain your appearance.

Is there downtime?

Although the microneedling procedure is extremely safe, some mild side effects are to be expected. Many patients report a slightly uncomfortable yet tolerable experience. Redness and swelling around the treated site is not unexpected, though this should only be mild. Your face might also feel warm, as if you have a sunburn.

Microneedling is a noninvasive procedure, so recovery time is minimal. As you recover, it’s important to keep the skin clean and moisturized. You should also avoid sun exposure and sweating.

When will I see results?

You will have an “inner glow” with very first treatment, however, most patients find that at least 3 treatments are needed to achieve desired results. Depending on the condition of your skin and your desired outcome, you could need up to six treatments.

During your consultation, Drs. McGuire and Alam will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan. With the right treatment plan, microneedling offers smoother, youthful, healthier appearing skin with minimal to no downtime.
